Jean, a 46 year-old wife and mother of three went to the hospital complaining of abdominal pains. She was diagnosed with appendicitis and scheduled for surgery. Unknown to her, the surgeon had a restricted license. After removing Jean’s appendix, the surgeon unnecessarily cut out a large section of her colon causing her entire small bowel became gangrenous. As a result, Jean died two days later.
Comatose Mother
Tracey, a 35 year-old mother of three, went to the hospital for the birth of her fourth child. Anesthesia was improperly injected into Tracey’s spine causing her to suffer respiratory arrest, cardiac arrest, and ultimately rendering her comatose. Her newborn daughter died one month later as a result of the events. Tracey’s three surviving children are now being raised separately from each other. Tracey is in a permanent semi-vegetative state.
Blind After Surgery
Frank, a 48 year-old father of two was admitted to the hospital following a fall from a roof in which he suffered multiple injuries. Shortly thereafter, while he was still medically unstable, spinal surgery was performed on him. Frank woke up from the surgery blind.
